Kathleen Burfoot has danced since she was 7 years old and competed for 15 years. Kathleen was trained by Irene Baird in her amature and professional dance career. She has been teaching for the past 6 years under Irene Baird. In September 2010 she opened her own dance school and is very interested in taking on more students. She was a champion dancer, and represented Mantioba at 9 Canadian Championships through out her career. She obtained 5th runner up in the North American Championship held in Edmoton AB in 2001. She had the opportunity to dance in the Edinbrough Military tattoo in 2008. Kathleen then returned to Manitoba to direct the highland dancing group for the Manitoba Military tattoo 2008. Kathleen has her Fellows membership of SDTA, and she is also a member of SDM, SDC, SOBHD and MHDA. She loves dancing and what it brings to peoples lives, the life long friendships, relationships, vaules and goals. Highland dancing allows children to stretch their physical and mental limits and it premotes a strong self awareness and self confidence within the children. She enjoys every minute with her current students and is looking forward to expanding her dance family.
