Rules & Regulations

4. Age for all events, including Championships is as of June 12, 2010 12:01 am. This is a two-day competition, dancer classification
5. All dancers must be registered under the SOBHD registration scheme in order to compete. Dancers MUST PRESENT THEIR 6. The competition committee reserves the right to combine, split or delete classes according to registration. To constitute a championship class, there must be a minimum of six dancers. A 7 & under 10 Years class will be run regardless of numbers. 7. Any change in dancer classification or additional dances must be emailed to zanandscott@shaw.ca (preferred method) or phoned in (204-416-3885) to the Registrar PRIOR to the day of the competition. Changes will NOT be accepted that day. 8. Competitors will dance in reverse order of entry. Dancers not present when their class is called will only be permitted to dance out of order at the discretion of the Technical Advisor. 9.Medals and trophies will be awarded for all classes,except 16 and over. Honoraria, in lieu of medals, will be awarded to Premier dancers in 16 year age class and over, for all medal placings in the OPEN COMPETITION ONLY. 10.The McGowan Jig is open to any Premier dancer who has NEVER been a previous overall winner of the McGowan Jig. Classes will be split according to age, separately from the regular Premier classes. The top 3 place getters in each class will dance off for the McGowan Trophy. This is a separate event and not included in the calculation of aggregate awards. 11. Special Fling in Beginner and Novice, Special Barracks Johnnie in Intermediate, and Special Lilt in Beginner, Novice, and Intermediate classifications are open to all Beginner, Novice and Intermediate dancers respectively and are not included in the calculation of aggregate awards. All Special dances are four steps, dancers choice (no set steps). 12. Protests must be made in writing, signed and presented to the competition coordinator on the day of the competition accompanied by a $25.00 fee which is refunded if sustained. 13. ENTRY FEES: Open Competition: $5.00 per dance; Championships: $30.00; Premier Special Event McGowan Jig: $6.00 per dance, plus number deposit, plus provincial surcharge. If you are not a member of any Provincial Highland Dance Association a $10.00 surcharge will apply. Proof of membership may be requested. Cheques post-dated to June 2, 2010 accepted with entry. Competitors shall pay $15.00 surcharge for cheques not honoured. Refunds available upon receipt of a medical certificate only. Numbers will be picked up at registration desk on day of competition.
